Sir Richard Branson has come under fire for launching a policy
that plays on people's fears of cancer but ignores equally life-
threatening illnesses.
Virgin Money says its new "Big V'' Cancer Cover will "fight the
Big C'' by promising a tax-free lump sum for anybody diagnosed with
almost any type of cancer. The plan has been pitched as a low-cost
alternative to traditional critical illness cover which has seen
sales fall in recent years as it has gone up in price.
"There are too many people who are not protecting themselves
financially against cancer because of prohibitive costs of
traditional cover,'' says Branson.
