The article to which Marelle refers concerned the appalling treatment of the 1m-plus members of the 20-odd book clubs run by Book Club Associates (BCA), part of the Bertelsman publishing empire. Her letter was just one of an unprecedented number sent by readers in response to a piece published in this section at the beginning of last month.
