Outside, the weather is dismal - cold and wet - as we grab a
breakfast cuppa at home. By cocktail time, we have traded hats and
coats for swimsuits and sandals. While a soft warm breeze rustles the
palm trees, we lounge by the pool and order mojitos, refreshing
concoctions of rum, lime juice and mint. On the beach, joggers pound
the sand and a few swimmers play in the waves. When winter's grey
skies threaten to last forever, we do what thousands of Britons do:
we escape to South Beach.
