Sending red roses for Valentine's Day may be romantic, but it won't win you any points for originality. There are several potted plants which, while every bit as scented and seductive, will still be thriving long after those roses have drooped or withered in the vase. Your choice will also suggest you've given the occasion a little more thought than nipping into the garage forecourt on your way home.
