BRIDGEPOINT, the private equity group, has appointed US
heavyweight Goldman Sachs to conduct a strategic review of Tunstall,
which could lead to a sale of the business as early as next year.
Analysts say Tunstall, which supplies high-tech sensors to help
support the elderly and disabled, is worth pounds 500m- pounds 600m.
It is understood Bridgepoint decided to conduct the review after
receiving a number of unsolicited expressions of interest. Among
those already thought
to have approached Bridgepoint are Bosch of Germany and Holland's
Phillips.
Bridgepoint bought Tunstall from
fellow British private equity group HgCapital for pounds 225m
