Article: Singer brings unique voice

As a teenager, Anais Mitchell thought she might become a journalist. But instead of telling stories in print, she conveys them in song.

Mitchell, whose first name is pronounced ah-NAY-iss, performs Sunday night in the second installment of Last Minute Folk's "Women of Folk: The Songstress Series."

As a future folk singer, Mitchell certainly came with a fitting background. She grew up on a sheep farm outside Bristol, Vt., run by her parents: her father a novelist, her mother a community organizer.
