Omni Bank has opened its new French Quarter branch at 301 Chartres
St. The branch at the corner of Bienville Street occupies an 1830s-
era structure that housed the first Ursuline Convent, a charity
hospital and a cigar manufacturer.
Omni spent more than $1 million on renovating and upgrading the
building for the bank branch. Architect Chip Rome of VergesRome
collaborated on the project for more than three years with lead
contractor Brice Construction. The structure was restored to its mid-
19th century facade, which had been altered several times.
