The Louisiana Restaurant Association today named Dalton Milton, formerly of The Rib Room in the Omni Royal Orleans Hotels in New Orleans, a "Louisiana Restaurant Legend."

Milton began working at The Rib Room in 1960. He will be presented with the Restaurant Legends Award, at 11:30 a.m. today at The Rib Room for exemplary service and commitment to the restaurant and the community.

Milton retired as maitre d' in May after a 46-year career at the restaurant, which made him the most senior staff member of the Omni Hotel chain. He began Nov. 4, 1960, just one month after the restaurant opened. His long list of customers included every New Orleans mayor beginning with Vic Schiro as well as Diana ...
