Local club deejay turned rapper DJ Kool's "Twenty Minute
Workout" is burning up WPGC - no surprise, given thatradio
station's interest in area artists. Listeners may remember the 1989
"D.C. Street Awards," a one-year-and-gone rap and go-go alternative
to the annual Washington Area Music Awards. Kool swept the program,
winning six awards, including Best Rapper.
Since then, he has been spinning at local clubs (he's currently
at Landover's Rythms every Sunday night) and "kinda studying the
listening public, trying to see which way the musical trends are
going."
