MAYBE YOU'RE missing those outdoor cafes that you visited in
the south of France - or dreamed of visiting this summer. Gerard's
Place, the very French restaurant at 915 15th St. NW, can help you
adjust. Just in time for our balmy autumn, Gerard's has set tables
out on the sidewalk and is serving small meals throughout the
afternoon as well as full meals at lunch and dinner. It would seem
that chef/owner Gerard Pangaud is himself nostalgic for those French
cafes.
PETITTO'S RISTORANTE d'Italia, 2653 Connecticut Ave. NW, has
long had a sidewalk cafe, so now it is concerning itself with
another of its customers' yearnings. For all those diners who can't
