The first event marked the release of Vice President Gore's "reinventing government" report, and yesterday's celebrated the progress made on Gore's effort to streamline the bureaucracy and improve its performance.

President Clinton ticked off the numbers: a reduction in the size of the federal work force by 71,000 positions and budget projections showing that savings of $47 billion will be achieved, a down payment on Gore's goal of $108 billion in cost savings.
