Article: Spare change; Bowl-a-thon raises $13,500 for Elizabethtown Boys Club

About 300 Elizabethtown residents took to the alleys Sunday for a Bowl-A-Thon fund-raiser for the local Boys Club.

Held at Clearview Lanes, the event raised $13,500 for the improvement and expansion of sports facilities at the Poplar Street park, where the club leases 13 acres from the borough.

The Boys Club sponsors a variety of athletic activities, such as baseball, football, wrestling and cheerleading, and has more than 500 children, from ages 4 through 14, in its baseball program alone.

The park has a Little League baseball field, another baseball field and a football practice field.
