Article: Township opposes stadium rezoning; E. Hempfield asks Manheim Township to reject request

East Hempfield Township supervisors have told the Manheim Township commissioners that rezoning 100 acres on Harrisburg Pike for a Target store and baseball stadium would represent "a step backward on boundary sensitive activities."

In a three-page letter dated March 7 and addressed to Don Smith, president of the Manheim Township board, the East Hempfield supervisors "strongly recommend" the commissioners reject a request to rezone the land from industrial to commercial.

"The impact of the proposed rezoning from industrial to commercial will ... increase the potential for adverse impacts to East Hempfield Township as well as the City of Lancaster and Lancaster Township, and be a step backward ...
