Intel
introduced a higher-speed microprocessor for notebook-style PCs
that analysts said will further reduce the technology gap between
desktop and portable computers. Several computer makers have said
they would use the new Pentium 75 MHz processor, which is twice as
fast as the 486-class DX4 chip.
Scott Paper
said it will sell its S.D. Warren Co. subsidiary, the world's
largest manufacturer of coated free paper used in high-quality
magazines and other publications, to an investment consortium led by
Sappi Ltd. of South Africa. The Philadelphia tissue maker has
planned the $1.6 billion sale in order to focus resources on its
core business.
