Article: Vera Albert knows her way around Mount Joy's past

As a child and teenager growing up in Mount Joy, Vera Albert developed an interest in local history.

More than six decades later, the retired Donegal School District teacher and lifetime Mount Joy resident is the town's leading historian.

President of the Mount Joy Historical Society, Albert chaired the committee that planned Mount Joy's 2001 sesquicentennial celebration. She also penned a book about the borough's World War II veterans titled "Standing Together: Mount Joy's Greatest Generation" and a commemorative booklet containing an updated history of Mount Joy.

And she's still writing. Her newest book is "Early Tool Makers of Mount Joy."

Age: 76.
