FALL ALWAYS BRINGS a burst of restaurant activity to the city.
Last month we saw the opening of Yannick Cam and Sevino Racine's
Provence, 2401 Pennsylvania Ave. NW (with Frank Ruta and Hector
Guerra in the kitchen), and the revamping of City Cafe, 2213 M St.
NW, into Asia Nora.
At the beginning of this month, Ashok Bajoj of the Bombay Club
and 701 opened the Oval Room, subtitled An American Restaurant,
across the street from the Bombay Club at 800 Connecticut Ave. NW.
The city's only Russian restaurant, Balalaika (which was
changed within the first few weeks from Misha's), has opened at 3300
M St. NW. The chef is from St. Petersburg, and the menu is
appropriately traditional.
