Music can touch the heart of a teenager.
At least two area schools have found a key to reaching teens who
love music but don't know the first thing about notes or measures or
tempo.
Guitar classes.
Recently the Manheim Township and Hempfield school districts have
found their guitar classes wildly popular with students who aren't in
band or orchestra.
In Manheim Township that interest has mushroomed to 10 full
sections and just under 200 kids taking guitar class this year.
At Hempfield, guitar is the single most popular musical instrument
class and has been for several years.
The class was introduced in Manheim Township just two years ago,
