After two major restructurings over the last four years,
Richmond-based James River Corp. is embarking on yet another
downsizing in a bid to cut its debt and enhance its earnings.
Hurt by a weak economy, the giant paper products company, which
makes office paper, paper towel and tissue products and packaging,
began to shed some business lines in 1991. This time, it is focusing
the restructuring on its huge office-paper division, one of its
three main operations, company officials and analysts said. The
division makes business and printing paper, as well as paper used
for magazines, catalogues, direct mail and other glossy
publications.
