Someone asked Penn State coach Joe Paterno why his Nittany Lions
are opening their season Saturday against Central Florida.
It was no cut on Central Florida, of course. But Central Florida?
Come on, now.
"I don't know," Paterno said, before pausing and answering, "I
really don't know."
Whether or not Paterno has an answer for beating Central Florida
will become clear Saturday in Beaver Stadium at 12:05 p.m., when the
Golden Knights come calling. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
The Nittany Lions, who limped home with a 5-6 record last fall,
are ranked No. 23 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll and No. 24 in
the AP poll. Central Florida, which is coached by former Pittsburgh
