Last week, some Lancaster County digital satellite television
customers began getting local channels for the first time.
As of Thursday, the DISH Network started offering four channels --
WGAL Channel 8 (NBC); WHTM Channel 27 (ABC); WPMT FOX 43; and WITF
Channel 33 (PBS) to satellite TV subscribers in Central Pennsylvania.
That puts DISH in direct competition with cable television, since
both now offer local channels as part of their packages.
A spokesman for Comcast Cable, which serves more than 100,000
Lancaster County households, said he isn't worried about losing
customers.
But area businesses that install satellite TV systems say the move
