With their latest release, the members of Pearl Jam, the last
great spokesmen of our generation, say what we all feel and think and
just can't put into words.
But Pearl Jam once again takes a self-righteous approach to music
and is refusing to promote its album, so no one outside of its large
and devoted fan base will care. As usual, Pearl Jam has the guts to
lash out against Republicans and corporate America -- and makes sure
to have no singles or music videos for any song from the album. "Riot
Act" is the right album for the right time, but nobody cares.
Pearl Jam is the final band left from the "grunge" age, a label
