Article: Eagles disappoint fans - again; Philadelphia falls short of Super Bowl as Tampa Bay wins NFC title game

It takes a special kind of team to turn a bitter Dallas Cowboys football fan into even a halfhearted Philadelphia Eagles fan.

But Sunday, in the waning minutes of Philadelphia's NFC Conference Championship loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Akron resident Frank Kirkpatrick made a $10 bet with a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan that he no doubt regrets today. Kirkpatrick bet that the Eagles would come back from a 20-10 deficit to win the game.

Such a bet is unheard of because Cowboys fans and Eagles fans intensely dislike each others' teams. But when push came to shove, even Kirkpatrick rooted for the Eagles.

"They'll do it," he said nervously as he eyed one of the many TV screens inside Damon's Grill ...
