High winds and what may have been a tornado devastated two
neighborhoods in Baltimore yesterday afternoon, pulling roofs from
dozens of row houses, knocking out power to thousands and throwing
strangers into one another's arms.
The unusually violent storm damaged property from Montgomery
County to Carroll County but produced no severe injuries, officials
said.
The storm forced dozens of families from their homes. It
sprayed hail across Northern Virginia and Washington shortly after
lunch and intensified significantly by the time it reached
Baltimore. Residents of Baltimore's Oliver neighborhood described an
almost apocalyptic experience.
