A Franklin & Marshall freshman who is supposed to begin classes
Tuesday was stranded in Pakistan last week, waiting for a visa she
was promised Aug. 10.
At Millersville University, returning students were fortunate to
be allowed back into the United States after university officials had
problems using a new computer database to track them.
These and other students are finding that attending college in
America has become more complicated since Sept. 11 for someone from a
foreign country.
Federal regulations imposed this summer to better screen and
monitor international students have caused delays for students and
headaches for administrators trying to comply with the new laws.
