LESTER AND MARY LOU BLANK, born in different hemispheres, have helped people around the world together during their 50-year marriage.

Mary Lou Lauver was born to missionary parents in Carlos Casares, Argentina. Mary Lou mastered the English language before her family moved to Davenport, Iowa, when she was 15.

Lester, born in Bird-in-Hand, graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. He met the Rev. William Lauver, pastor of the Davenport Mennonite Church and Mary Lou's father.

Lester recalls his future father-in-law introducing him to Mary Lou: "Oh, there is that Blank guy from Lancaster County."
