Article: Smoker glad fans here stuck by him

Jeff Smoker has a message for the people of Manheim as he gets ready for the final regular-season football game of his college career.

"I just want to say to all the people back home. Thanks for all your support," Michigan State's senior quarterback said Tuesday night after practicing for Saturday's game at noon in East Lansing against Penn State. "Thanks for your letters, your cards and your phone calls.

"All of that stuff means a lot, and all of that stuff helps me day- to-day. It's nice knowing you have people who care about you and support you. The fan support has been great, especially from Manheim. But also from around (Lancaster County). It's been tremendous."
