Article: Fostering love in their children; County honors loving foster parents

When Barry and Kristi Stoltzfus look at their oldest son, they know they made the right decision.

Manny, a 16-year-old junior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, came to their home as a baby from Lancaster County Children and Youth Services.

Their son had come face-to-face with some of life's harshest realities by the time he was 7 months old, Kristi Stoltzfus said. She offered few details, but said the first few months of Manny's life were "horrible."

It is due in large part to the Stoltzfuses' dedication that Manny is leading a successful life today, and about 200 people gathered at a dinner Thursday night to celebrate the couple's 20 years as foster parents.
