Article: Takin' it to the streets ; Marion Court Room hosts Freedom Fest

Think of the Freedom Fest as a cross between Celebrate Lancaster and Lollapalooza - albeit smaller.

On Sunday, Marion Court Room bar and restaurant once again set the stage for Freedom Fest, transforming the 100 block of East Marion Street into a July 4 mini music festival.

Michael Geesey, Marion Court Room co-owner, said the event, in its second year, was inspired by street festivals he's attended in Baltimore and Boston's Federal Hill.

"My partner, Tom Ponessa, and me thought it would be cool to have something like that here in Lancaster," he said. "Except there's no way you could have beer or alcohol on all streets."
