Article: Smoking ban concerns are overstated

TO THE EDITOR: In Adam Frederick's letter regarding the smoking ban laws, which are being considered for Pennsylvania, he states he has heard of a bar in New York and one in California that had to close because of the smoking ban.

I suspect there were other factors involved in the closing of these businesses. The statistics show that revenues have increased in states where smoking bans have been implemented, due to lower costs and more customers who prefer smoke-free environments. If the smoking ban were responsible for the closing of bars and restaurants, there would be no more bars and restaurants in New York or California.
