Two days a week, they get out of bed at 5 a.m. to come to the ice
rink before they go to school, but the Red Rose Figure Skating Club
members' passion for their sport doesn't stop there. With after-
school practices four times per week, Saturdays, and the
competitions, they spend many hours on the ice.
All this commitment leaves little time for anything else in life,
but that's OK with this group of athletes. They look forward to
landing that perfect jump or gliding across the ice performing moves
most of us could only dream of doing.
"Figure skating is who I am," said Arden Bortzfield, who has
skated for 10 years and now has advanced to coaching younger skaters.
