The Manheim Township commissioners have authorized the hiring of a project manager to oversee design work on a planned community center.

The move, approved unanimously Monday night, represents a small but necessary step forward for a multimillion-dollar project that has sparked enormous levels of passion in the suburb.

Officials said the project manager will serve as an unbiased point person for the next stage of planning for the Overlook Community Center - hiring an architect to draw up various plans, at varying costs.
