IT'S A GIG like many others Peter and Franz Stahl have played
over the years: a 9:30 club benefit for an altruistic local
organization, Rise Inc. There are some differences this time,
though. The Stahls are now in Wool, which toils for a multinational
corporation, Polygram, rather than in Scream, which used to record
for Dischord, a D.C. independent label. And instead of driving in
from Arlington, the band will be stopping over between Britain,
where it just finished a European tour, and Los Angeles, where it's
now based.
Says Peter Stahl, calling from Paris, "It a long time to get
used to {L.A.}. I really hated it at first."
