Steven Wright bends reality like Salvador Dali bent clocks.
So it comes as no surprise to learn that Wright, a surrealist
stand-up comic, has a Dali print hanging over his fireplace in
Carlisle, Mass.
"The painting is of two nuns standing in the middle of all this
insanity," Wright said by phone. "But, if you look at it another way,
the two nuns become the face of an old woman."
What a perfect metaphor for Wright's comically skewed perception
of the universe.
If ever they make a bio pic of his life, it should be written by
Charlie Kauffman and titled "The Eternal Abstraction of the Absurdist
Mind."
Random ponderings - like how deep would the ocean be without
sponges? - seep out of Wright ...
