WEST CHESTER - When Millersville's Brian Jones was asked how often
he's heard coach Fred Thompson nag him about rebounding, he just
rolled his eyes.
"Oh, my God," Jones said. "I swear, (I hear him) in my sleep."
Yet the 6-7 senior center from McCaskey never rebounded in his
dreams like he did in real life Tuesday night. With 6-6 senior
teammate Toochi Udeinya saddled with foul trouble and never a factor,
Jones did enough work for two big men.
He scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds - both career highs -
to lead Millersville to a thrilling 61-57 overtime victory over West
Chester in front of 1,400 fans in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference men's basketball playoff quarterfinals.
