KIM KLUGH Correspondent Sidle up to your skillet your favorite
bread and cheese in hand and get ready for some grilled cheese
makeovers. Whether your bread of choice is homemade, bakery-bought or
the last two stale slices of Wonder Bread, a hearty meal awaits the
flip of your spatula. One autumn afternoon my friend Charlotte
Stoeckle, of Mountville, introduced an ingredient to my conventional
grilled cheese sandwich: crisp, Granny Smith apple slices. Little did
she realize the long-range effect she would have on my culinary
imagination. The apples tart juices mingled with the butter-laden
