"I get by with a little help from my friends," are words New
Holland Recreation Center could be singing. The familiar words from
the Beatles song lends itself to how a generous gift of land from a
benevolent businessman resulted in a $1.2 million gain for the
recreation center. It began in 2003 when Fred Musselman, local
businessman and member of the recreation board, donated a 13-acre
tract in Earl Township between Phillip Road and Orlon Street to the
recreation board. He purchased the land for $595,000. According to
recreation center board member Ed Beck, Musselman didn't want his
identity revealed as the donor of the land and used Friends of the
