This was reminiscent of those microeconomics classes you may have
taken in college - interminable. When it finally and mercifully ended
for the Washington Bullets, they had been flattened by the New Jersey
Nets, 124-79, at Brendan Byrne Arena.
New Jersey (18-15) was coming off a defeat Friday night. So was
Washington (10-22). The similarities ended there. The Nets had energy
and purpose and acted like they wanted to play. The Bullets did none
of this, and as a result were behind by 21 points after one quarter,
31 at the half and 38 after three quarters.
They did lead 2-0 and 4-3. Total time of leads: 2:18.
Coach Wes Unseld summed it up: "Inept. We didn't do it ... out
there offensively or ...
