After nearly a lifetime of service, two longtime Kiwanis Club
members were honored Tuesday.
The Lancaster Kiwanis Club presented former Lancaster City police
chief David M. Rineer and retired physician Joe Eckenrode with
Lifetime Achievement awards at the club's annual awards luncheon at
the Brunswick Hotel.
Both men were surprised to receive the award, the highest honor in
the Kiwanis Club service organization.
"I just couldn't believe it. I was overwhelmed," said Eckenrode,
who has been a member of the Kiwanis Club for 51 years.
The retired family practitioner was praised for his way of
