Roger William Shaeffer, Sr., 83, of 464 Manor St., Columbia, died
on Saturday at the Susquehanna Valley Rehabilitation Center following
an illness of several months. He was the husband of the late Sarah
Burger Shaeffer who preceded him in death in 1996. Born in Lititz,
Pa., he was the son of the late William and Grace Hansel Shaeffer.
Roger retired as a painter in the maintenance department of the
former New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
He was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and the Red
Rose Memorial Post #2435 VFW in Columbia. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing and was a member of the Columbia Fish and Game Association,
the Swatara Beagle Club and ...
