Candidates for Columbia Borough Council agree animosity must be soothed and political rivalries smoothed over if the community is to move forward.

But the battle for political harmony isn't over yet, as six Republicans appeal to disgruntled voters for support in the May 15 primary election.

A seventh Republican candidate, Parke Douglas Dicely, died in a March 7 fire. A spokesman for the GOP said Dicely's name was kept on the ballot to honor his years of service to the party.
