So you've just discovered the bag of spring-flowering bulbs you
bought on impulse last September then left in the garage and forgot.
You feel guilty; you are angry with yourself. You wonder how you
could have been so careless as to forget the maxim: To have bulbs
bloom in the spring you must get them into the ground in the fall.
Don't be too hard on yourself. The odds are better than 3 to 1
that even when put in the ground at this late, late date, the bulbs
of winter aconites, crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths, tulips and
ornamental onions will send up stalks this spring. They may flower a
few weeks later than they are supposed to and their blooms may not be
up to the high standards expected ...
