An independent evaluator said the Hingham special education staff is strong, skilled and creative, but may need more planning time and training.

MaryAnn Byrnes, a professor at the University of Massachusetts- Boston, said the job of director of pupil services should be reorganized and paraprofessionals should be given more time to plan services along with special education teachers.

"With a very broad brush, the staffing here is very strong," Byrnes told the school committee last night. "I think there are some questions about whether people want to switch roles around a little."
