DEDHAM - A Braintree man is serving a 6-to-8-year state prison sentence after admitting to drug and weapons charges in Norfolk Superior Court.

As a result of a plea agreement, Robert Cabral, 39, admitted to charges of cocaine trafficking, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a license and three counts of possession with intent to distribute prescription pills.

A charge of conspiracy with intent to distribute drugs was dismissed.

Cabral, who has served time in prison for an earlier drug dealing conviction, was facing a 20-year sentence if convicted following a trial.
