the time that football and other sports are about the basics, the
fundamentals that coach told you about, either today or maybe 40
years ago. Coach taught you the basics of tackling and blocking and
covering a receiver and, yeah, holding on to the ball. Saturday at
South Shore Vocational, on a cold and wet day, the Vikings managed to
hold on to the ball, and visiting Cape Cod Tech managed to cough it
up in crunch time, miscues that greatly contributed to South Shore's
20-14 victory in a big-time meeting of Mayflower League Small
