BOSTON - The new Neponset River Greenway will open Saturday with a family fun run.The 5-kilometer noncompetitive event will take place along the new walking and bike trail that goes from Pope John Paul II Park in Dorchester along the Neponset River to the Baker Chocolate Mill Pond. This is the first special event on the Metropolitan District Commission's multi-use trail.

The Greenway is the latest addition to Boston Natural Area Networks' program to expand and enhance open city space. BNAN is the largest owner of community gardens in the state, and it is working with several Boston ...
