Liam hopes the money will help him make a better life for his mother when she gets out of jail, just in time for his 16th birthday. If that scenario sounds bleak, Liam is nevertheless full of optimism, even when his mother's boyfriend - on a visit to the jail - makes him hide drugs in his mouth that she plans to sell to other convicts.
