Seton Hall added considerable luster to the oft-maligned Big East
today. Speedy, elegant, and hot-shooting, the top-seeded Pirates
routed Syracuse, 103-70, in a lopsided Big East tournament final at
Madison Square Garden.
Top-seeded Seton Hall was sublime. Awesome. Perfect. So much so
that the Orangemen could never compete. By the time the flogging
subsided, the Pirates had set a tournament record for most points and
biggest margin of victory.
"We had one of those games where we couldn't do anything wrong,"
said Seton Hall Coach P.J. Carlesimo.
It was a mesmerizing performance. There was artful passing - the
Pirates tallied 25 assists - and fast breaks that thoroughly
frustrated Syracuse's ...
