Article: Erin's gentle spirit fades away; Woman, 24, dies after long battle with rare disease

Using the little voice that her rare, fatal disease had left her with, Erin Roberts told her family a couple of times this fall that she was ready to "go home to heaven."

When she began to fade after a bout with double pneumonia in October, her family set up a hospital bed in their living room and brought her home to Hanover.

Last week, Roberts, 24, died in the arms of her mother, father and sister. Family members and friends had been keeping a constant vigil.

"We were ready to let her go, and we were all prepared," her father, Michael Roberts, said. "We have this huge void and we know God is going to fill it somehow."
