Quincy tourism has received a $30,000 pat on the back from the state.

That's the amount of a matching grant announced this week by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Discover Quincy Inc., the nonprofit city tourism bureau, is collaborating with several organizations and will apply the grant toward a new tourism project.

Called Quincy ArtsAlive!, the project will include a series of cultural and social events designed to extend the city's tourist season and stimulate economic activity in downtown Quincy.
