Quincy tourism has received a $30,000 pat on the back from the
state.
That's the amount of a matching grant announced this week by the
Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Discover Quincy Inc., the nonprofit city tourism bureau, is
collaborating with several organizations and will apply the grant
toward a new tourism project.
Called Quincy ArtsAlive!, the project will include a series of
cultural and social events designed to extend the city's tourist
season and stimulate economic activity in downtown Quincy.
Most of the six events being planned will occur next winter. So
they will enable the city "to bridge that period when our historic
