Fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins continued its lacrosse domination of
eighth-ranked Navy today with an 11-8 victory before a homecoming
crowd of 6,324 at Homewood Field.
But the Blue Jays' 19th straight victory wasn't secure until they
were able to solve the Midshipmen's deliberate offense and score five
straight goals in the second half to overcome a three-goal halftime
deficit.
The last time Navy (7-3) beat Johns Hopkins (8-2) was 1974 and the
last time it won at Homewood was 1969. The series began in 1906.
"The third quarter is what did it," Navy Coach Bryan Matthews
said. "We played a lot of defense and not enough offense. And if you
